Mascara, I have a love hate relationship with mascara. I don’t know about you but it’s my least favourite beauty product solely for the reasons of removing it is a pain and it doesn’t hold your lashes up all day but you don’t want to reapply because it will get clumpy hard and flakey. This is why I love lashes, now I am not very good at putting those on either haha. Another thing about mascara is that I have always thought all of them as the same or very close to so why would anyone buy a $29 ($39 CAD) one?

Well all of those thoughts were flushed down the toilet when this mascara came to me. I was very excited to see that I would be receiving a Yves Saint Laurent Vinyl Couture Mascara Voxbox because of all of the amazing colours and I have always wanted to try coloured mascara. When I opened the box I was a bit disappointed that it was the regular black one (keep in mind of previous thoughts on mascara), however I was committed to try it.
The package itself is stunning, I love the unique square shape and clear packaging. It also features a shiny gold lid that has the brand logo. As mentioned before this product has changed my mind on mascaras. The wand grabs your lashes nicely to thicken, separate and lengthen them. It adds great definition accompanied by buildable length that won’t flake off later on in the day.
I have sensitive eyes but they have not been bothered by this at all, another wonderful feature is that it keeps your lashes curled for most of the day! At the end of the day I found this extremely easy to remove, without getting raccoon eyes. All around YSL did and amazing job formulating this product but that comes with quite the price tag Click here to see more information on this product along with all the other colours!
I am intrigued to see how the colours perform, specifically the blue and pink but that is a venture for the future. For now I am more than happy with the black one that has replaced all others and removes the need for doubling up mascaras- we’ve all done it.
EDIT: I just received an e-mail notifying me this has been taken off the shelves. YSL has said that the product wasnt performing as well as they had hoped and in few cases with the coloured versions there was minor ocular discomfort but not seriously harmful. At this time they are discussing what may happen but there is no set plan to reformulate.

I’ve been eyeing this mascara for a bit. I just ordered a 100 point perk one with a Sephora order and now I’m extra excited for it to get here!
